Five work styles: are you a connector, creator, builder, commander or sage
A résumé says what you have done; your work style says how you do it. Meet the five styles HappyJob computes from birth details, and how to use yours when applying.

Two people with identical résumés can work in opposite ways. One is talking to every department by the end of week one; the other shuts the door, finishes the piece, then appears. A good manager knows both are valuable, and belong in different seats.
The five styles the site computes
The careers by element tool shows your work style as a share across five types; the highest is your main style.
- Connector: good with people, pulls a team together, mediates, bridges departments. Suits HR, coordination, customer relations.
- Creator: sees work as finished pieces, likes starting new things. Suits creative work, projects, products, content.
- Builder: turns mess into steps, looks after assets and numbers. Suits accounting, operations, quality control.
- Commander: decides and takes responsibility, wants a clear goal and the authority that goes with it. Suits team leads, managers, senior sales.
- Sage: learns deeply, can teach, the person others ask. Suits analysis, academic work, consulting, training.
Using your style when you apply
- Write one line at the top of your résumé that states your main style in plain words, such as "good at getting a team talking" or "delivers finished pieces on time". Small-business employers read that line first.
- Choose postings whose seat matches your style. Companies that use Team fit mark a "team seat" on the posting: operations, sales, marketing and so on. If your main style is builder, an operations or finance seat fits better than a sales one.
- Answer interview questions in your style. When asked for a strength, give one example that shows your main style rather than listing ten qualities.
A style is not a cage
Everyone has all five; only the order differs. Someone at commander 40, connector 30 leads more gently than someone at commander 60, builder 25. And your 10-year path tells you what this period is about: in some periods a creator is pulled toward position, in others a commander sits in a year for settling and banking results.
