Seeker guide: use HappyJob to find work you will stay in
From creating an account and entering birth details to choosing jobs, interviewing and starting work. Follow this order and you will have used every HappyJob tool within your first week.
HappyJob differs from ordinary job boards in that it can also say "which kind of work, where, and when suits you". What gets you hired is still the same as everywhere: a complete profile, applications that fit, and quick replies to employers. This guide covers both, in order.
Day one: set the base (15 minutes)
- Enter your birth details at careers by element: date, time window (if known), birth province and gender. Employers never see this; it unlocks the "fits your element" badge, your work style, year-by-year timing and recommended jobs.
- Fill in your profile at My profile: a headline, 5 to 10 skills, the province you want to work in, the pay you want, and your work and education history (see an online résumé in ten minutes).
- Switch on "open to work" in the profile. Companies find you by skills and province without seeing your email, phone or birth details until you answer their invitation.
- Open the places map once. The site remembers it and adds the "supportive place" badge to postings.
- Make your HappyJob résumé from the profile you just filled in. Publish once and you have a link, a PDF and a LINE share card (details below).
Reading your own results
- Your element and supporting elements: choose fields by the supporting elements, not your own element.
- The five work styles: put your main style in your headline and use it to answer "what is your strength?" (read more).
- Year-by-year timing: an "open" year backs a move, a "guarded" year says settle, a "steady" year means move if the offer is good.
- The 10-year path at /tools/path: the theme of the period you are in, and whether to move or settle (read more).
- Career compass at /account/compass: every tool on one page, with this week's to-dos.
Everything is supporting information; see how we compute.
The HappyJob résumé: one link, send it anywhere
The HappyJob résumé is built from your profile automatically, so nothing is typed twice, and unlike an ordinary résumé file it tells employers "how to work with you", not only what you did.
- Open it at My account → HappyJob résumé, pick a layout, add a photo (optional), choose the provinces you would work in, and press Publish.
- The signature box: your working style, seats that fit and 3 questions to ask you at the interview, from the birth details you saved. Employers see words, never a birth date or age.
- A link that updates itself: edit your profile or history once and every link you ever sent changes with it. Switch it off any time.
- PDF and share card: download an A4 to apply anywhere, with a QR back to the link, and choose the card shown when you share in LINE.
- A version for each posting: on a job page, press "résumé for this posting" and the skills that posting asks for come first.
- It travels with every application here: employers you applied to on HappyJob can always open it, even while the public link is off.
- Already have a file? Import your old PDF; the site reads the name, skills and history for you to check before saving.
Choosing and applying
- Search at /jobs with the fits your element and only places that support me filters, together with province, field and pay.
- Check jobs recommended for you on My account, chosen from your profile and birth details, with reasons.
- On a posting, press Apply. The application carries your profile automatically; you add only a short message to the company.
- Share your team fit or not: companies that use Team fit ask whether they may see your "team fit". If you allow it, they see a short phrase and one strength, never a birth date or score. If you refuse, the application still goes through. Change your mind on My account; withdrawing deletes any existing reading at once.
- Send at a good time: let the site hold the application and send it in a window that supports you (today or tomorrow). It tells you when.
- Set a job alert for searches you care about: at most one email a day.
After applying
- Follow the status in My applications and talk to the company through messages on the site (notified by email, and by LINE if you linked your LINE account).
- When a company proposes interview times, pick one. Both sides get a calendar file and a Google Calendar link.
- Before the interview, open interview hour and direction for the direction to sit and the best window that day. A summary email arrives the day before.
- When you are hired, My account opens a three-day "negotiation window" and shows the desk direction that supports you.
When you join a company's team
If a company invites you to Team fit, you get an invitation link. Join with your own account; the birth details used are the ones in your account. The company sees only fit results, never a birth date, and you can leave the team any time, which deletes every result about you.
Your privacy and rights
- Employers never see your birth date, birth time or personal results.
- Download all your data or delete your account yourself from My account.
- Every company commits not to use results to refuse anyone. If you see a breach, use Report on the posting or company page.
